James Madison High School Graduate Wins 2013 Outstanding Graduate Award

Ashworth College, a leading online school, (http://www.ashworthcollege.edu/) announced today that James Madison High School Graduate Sherry Evans of Fitzgerald, Georgia has been recognized as an outstanding graduate from the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC).

The DETC acknowledges graduates each year who successfully completed a distance education program.

The DETC annually recognizes graduates who have excelled as distance education students. This year, students from 35 online schools were recognized for their accomplishments at the DETC 87th Annual Conference held April 14-16, 2013 in San Francisco, CA.

As a wife and working mother, I chose James Madison High School and distance learning because it fit my schedule and gave me the flexibility I needed to earn my diploma, Evans said.

Being the first one in her immediate family to graduate high school was important for Evans, but she also chose to earn her diploma to better herself, find a better paying job and make her family proud. She hopes to use this accomplishment to encourage her own children to continue their education as well.

Evans chose distance learning and James Madison High School because of its flexibility to meet the demands of her responsibilities as a wife, mother and working woman.

Sherry is a prime example of how distance learning can be beneficial to those with a busy schedule, said Rob Klapper, Ashworth College President and CEO. Were proud of her accomplishments as a James Madison High School graduate."

Delivering on a Promise

When a concept challenges the norm, it can be greeted with skepticism. In the case of distance education, accountability and outcomes is a frequent topic of discussion among those interested in furthering their education.

Most often coming into question is whether or not higher education delivers on its promises, can more education be worth the extra effort and added expense, and how is online education the best of all worlds.

The Outstanding DETC Graduate of the Year program is living testimony of why the answer is a resounding yes to those who ask these questions, said Michael P. Lambert, DETC Executive Director.

In addition to online schools like as Ashworth offering accredited online diploma, certificate or degree programs for up to 50% less than traditional brick and mortar institutions, DETC proudly points out the achievements of the Graduate of the Year nominees who represents the thousands of Ashworth Graduates already having changed their lives for the better by persisting and getting advanced education.

To those who question the value of going to college online or continuing ones education beyond secondary school, we maintain that there are few better investments one can make than investing in a quality education, Lambert added.
